Welcome to Athena’s Trades. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our website and services. Please read them carefully.

 

By registering as a customer or tradeswoman, by browsing our site or by making use of the services provided by Athena's Trades, you agree to these Terms.

 

1. About Us

​

Athena’s Trades (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a UK-based digital platform connecting customers with verified female tradespeople.

 

  • We act as an intermediary platform.

  • Contracts for services are formed directly between customers and tradeswomen.

  • We provide payment handling, ID/DBS verification checks via third parties, and customer support.

2. Use of the Website

 

  • You agree to use our website lawfully and not to:

     

    • Breach any laws or regulations.

    • Copy, scrape, or misuse our content.

    • Disrupt or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website or systems.

     

  • We may suspend or terminate your access if you misuse the site or fail to adhere to any of the terms & conditions. The decision of Athena's Trades appointed person or persons as to this shall be final with no right of appeal.

3. Registration and Accounts

​

  • You must be at least 18 years old to register.

  • You must provide accurate, current, and complete information.

  • You are responsible for keeping your account secure.

4. Payments and Fees

​

  • Customers pay the full quoted job amount plus Athena’s service fee (currently 10%, subject to change) upfront through the platform.

  • Athena’s deducts its service fee immediately.

  • A deposit is released to the tradeswoman on booking.

  • The balance is released when the tradeswoman marks the job complete and:

     

    • The customer confirms completion; or

    • Seven (7) days pass without customer response, at which point the balance is automatically released to the tradeswoman.

5. Cancellations and Refunds

​

Customer cancellation:

  • If a customer cancels before work begins, the Athena’s service fee is non-refundable.

  • The tradeswoman’s refund policy applies to the deposit.

Tradeswoman cancellation:

  • If a tradeswoman cancels, the customer receives a full refund.

  • The tradeswoman must pay Athena’s the service fee that would have applied.

​

Refunds generally:

​

  • Refunds follow the tradeswoman’s published refund policy.

  • Athena’s may process refunds on their behalf but is not responsible for refund terms.

6. Dispute Resolution

​

  • Customers must raise disputes within seven (7) days of the job being marked complete.

  • Athena’s will offer mediation.

  • If no dispute is raised within seven (7) days, funds are automatically released.

7. Responsibilities and Liability

 

Tradeswomen:

  • Responsible for services, workmanship, safety, insurance, and legal compliance.

​

Customers:

​

  • Responsible for ensuring a tradeswoman is suitable.

  • Must provide accurate job details and safe property access.

​

Athena’s Trades:

​

  • Provides ID/DBS verification via third parties.

  • Does not guarantee workmanship.

  • Limits liability to the total service fee paid to Athena’s for the booking.

8. Standards and Safety

​

  • All tradeswomen undergo ID and DBS checks, but customers must also satisfy themselves.

  • Customers are encouraged to check insurance, qualifications, and references.

9. User-Generated Content​

​

  • Customers may leave reviews or feedback.

  • You grant Athena’s a non-exclusive right to use, display, and share your reviews for promotional purposes.

  • Reviews must be fair, lawful, and not defamatory.

10. Intellectual Property

​

  • All website content, branding, logos, and materials belong to Athena’s Trades.

  • You may not reproduce, copy, or redistribute them without permission.

11. Third-Party Services

​

  • We use third-party providers (e.g., Stripe, Yoti). Their terms apply in addition to ours.

  • We are not responsible for third-party sites linked from our website.

​

12. Indemnity

 

You agree to indemnify Athena’s Trades against any claims, damages, or costs arising from your misuse of the platform, breach of these Terms, or unlawful actions.

13. Website Availability

​

  • We aim to keep the website available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access.

  • We may suspend or modify the site at any time without liability.

​

14. Governing Law

 

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

 

  • Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

15. Changes to These Terms

 

We may update these Terms from time to time. Updates will be posted with a new effective date.
